Seems superfluous but actually makes life better!
-My hands are dry.
-Are you using hand cream?
-No. What kind should I be using?
I have had this conversation about five times so far this week, which has been about average for this winter. For some reason, the cold and dry air has been zapping the moisture out of my hands (and apparently the hands of all of my patients) and leaving me reaching for hand cream. In the past, I have thought about hand cream as a superfluous skin care product, but I guess since I now have parched old lady hands, it is quite essential.
I discovered Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Hand Cream, which is not just a thick version of normal cream, but a special formula pumped up with lots of glycerin. What is glycerin, you may be wondering? It is a humectant, which means it acts like a sponge and attracts water to itself. Having it in your hand cream draws extra moisture to the top layers of your skin, leaving your skin feeling baby bottom smooth. This particular product is wonderful, it doesn’t leave you greasy so you can go about your daily business, and it creates a nice moisturized seal on your hands. Great for moms, teachers, cooks, or anyone that washes and uses their hands a lot during the day. In short, I’m obsessed. I’d love to hear about your favorite hand creams, so please comment away!
